System Hacking was an assignment for Avans Communication Multimedia Design. Our group of five
was
tasked with finding a system to change and come up with a new, perhaps unconventional idea. We chose
to focus on the housing market since we were all at an age where finding a suitable house or
apartment was challenging in today's market.
Our crazy idea was to completely revolutionize the concept of traditional houses. In a world where
work has become increasingly important, we questioned the necessity of a conventional home and
instead focused on the core needs of individuals: privacy, access to fresh air, and a place to
charge electronic devices. We brainstormed ways to visualize these human needs while also making it
an enjoyable experience.
Our concept involved replacing houses with boxes. These boxes would serve as personal spaces, worn
on the head, providing individuals with their essential requirements. People would go about their
daily lives, walking the streets, working, and dining out, all while wearing these boxes. Some may
perceive this idea as bizarre, but we challenged the notion of what constitutes a home and explored
alternative ways of meeting our fundamental needs.
In our adapted world, this unconventional living arrangement would redefine how people interacted
with their environment. It encouraged us to question the traditional concept of housing and sparked
conversations about the evolving needs of individuals in a fast-paced society.
